With 60 additional swine flu cases, total number goes up to 1200 in Rajasthan

At least 60 additional cases of swine flu came to light in Rajasthan on Sunday, taking the total number of positive cases in the state to 1233 so far.

Out of the 60 positive cases, 19 were from the capital city Jaipur. The second highest number of positive cases was in Udaipur with 10 people suffering from swine flu. Three people each in Bhilwara and Pratapgarh and two each in Ajmer and Bharatpur were also found swine flu positive.

A resident of Bikaner died due to swine flu on Sunday, taking the death toll in Rajasthan to 49 this year.

In the last thirteen months, more than 200 people have died in Rajasthan due to swine flu. Two doctors of Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Hospital have also tested positive for swine flu this year.

The government is aware of the gravity of the situation. Several high-level meetings have taken place including those where the chief minister and the health minister have been present. However, as the data shows, the situation continues to remain grim.

The state government has issued a high alert. Leaves of doctors and paramedical staff in the state were cancelled earlier. The state government claims that it has made arrangements for swine flu medicines
