With 162 new Covid-19 cases, J&K records highest single-day spike, tally reaches 1,921

Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday reported 162 new Covid-19 cases, its highest single-day spike since the outbreak. This takes the Union Territory’s overall Covid-19 tally to 1,921.

Authorities told India Today that among the 73 confirmed cases at microbiology laboratory of CD hospital here, 39 were from SKIMS Soura while 38 cases were from Jammu.

The remaining cases were from private laboratories, they said. Officials added that there could be repeat cases and would be divulged shortly.

Among the fresh cases in Kashmir division, Anantnag reported 4 cases, Kupwara 26, Kulgam 27, Bandipora 2, Baramulla 10, Budgam 2, Shopian 12 and Pulwama 21.

In Jammu division, Reasi reported 3 cases, Kathua 3, Samba 3, Ramban 1, Udhampur 11, Jammu 4, Poonch 11 and Rajouri 2.
