AUSTRALIA TRIES TO WOO INDIAN VISITORS WITH RS 23.4 CRORE CAMPAIGN

T-20 World Cup will be played in Australia next year. The first Women’s T-20 World Cup will be held in February-March.

After this, Men’s T-20 World Cup will be played in October-November.

Before the tournament, Australia will spend Rs 23.4 million on advertising to woo the Indian audience.

Ad campaigns will start next month.

Australia’s Tourism Minister Simon Birmingham said that through this campaign they will extend their reach to Indian tourists.

Birmingham said, “India is already the fastest-growing tourism market for Australia. This market is about Rs. 8071 crores. We will use the advertisement campaign for both men and women tournaments. This will increase the tourism appeal of Australia in India. ‘

Indian team once won the T-20 World Cup. India defeated Pakistan in the 2007 finals and won the title. After this, team India reached the world cup finals in 2014 but faced a defeat against Sri Lanka.

Host Australia has not won a T20 Champion title yet. West Indies is the team with most win i.e. 2 times champion. Apart from these teams, Pakistan and England have also won the cup one-one time each.

Birmingham said, “In the World Cup, there will be an opportunity for the Indian fans to come to Australia for encouraging their team. They can see different cities and stadiums here. During this time, they will also have time to visit here,”

Sports Minister Richard Colbeck said, “The World Cup will set Australia as a global venue for sports and big events. Organizing large sports in Australia is important for promoting our rich sports culture. And, the ICC T20 World Cup 2020 is no exception. There is a possibility of 10 lakh fans coming here.”

In Australia, they give estimates about Rs 3437 billion rupees (the US $50 billion) per year for the direct economy, productivity, and voluntary gains. By 2035, the number of Indian tourists can reach 12 lakhs.
