Tejashwi Yadav demands arrest of JDU MLA involved in Gopalganj murder case

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav on Tuesday demanded action “within 48 hours” against Janata Dal-United (JDU) MLA Amrendra Kumar Pandey alias Pappu Pandey for his alleged involvement in a shooting incident, which left three people dead and one CPI-ML leader injured in Gopalganj district.

Daring the ruling JD(U) to take action against the party MLA from Kuchaikote — as he has been named by the eyewitness — Tejashwi Yadav has promised to protest against the killings.

Earlier on Sunday evening, CPI-ML leader JP Yadav’s parents (father — Mahesh Choudhary, 65, mother Shankeshia Devi, 60, and brother Shantanu Choudhary, 35) received bullet injuries after unidentified assailants opened fire at them in Gopalganj.

The three later succumbed to their injuries, while JP Yadav sustained injuries and is recuperating at Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH).

Yadav has accused Amrendra Pandey of killing his family members.

Yadav is believed to have gained political prominence and his rise is believed to have put him in confrontation with MLA Amrendra Pandey, sources said.

Yadav was apparently preparing to contest the Zila Parishad (ZP) polls next year against MLA Amrendra Pandey’s nephew Mukesh, who is currently the ZP chairman, sources added.

The Gopalganj police have arrested Jila Parishad Chairman Mukesh Pandey and his father Satish Pandey.

Satish is the brother of JD(U) MLA Amrendra Pandey. Police have also lodged an FIR against Pandey.

The attack is suspected to be the fallout of a political rivalry.

Meanwhile, Shashikant Tewari, a cousin of the JD(U) MLA was also shot dead on Tuesday.
