Repatriation flights: Mamata govt accuses Centre of bias; MEA says waiting for you to confirm arrangements

After rail services, the West Bengal government and the Centre have clashed over repatriation flights to the state as part of the Vande Bharat Mission. The MEA has refuted the charges of discrimination by the TMC government in West Bengal and said it was awaiting permission of the state.

West Bengal Education Minister Partha Chatterjee’s on Thursday accused the Centre of discriminating between states as he asked why repatriation flights to West Bengal haven’t been scheduled.

“Is the MEA asking us to believe that there are enough people to come from Georgia to Gujarat but none want to come to Kolkata? Also, there are enough people to come back to Bihar from Kyrgyzstan but not enough to bring back to Bengal? Stop this injustice,” Bengal minister Partha Chatterjee tweeted.

Responding to Partha Chatterjee’s tweet, the External Affairs Ministry said it does not discriminate between states, and added that the Centre’s Vande Bharat mission is for all stranded Indians.
