Renault plans multiple launches to push volumes

NEW DELHI: French carmaker Renault, which on Monday launched its premium SUV Captur, said it will have multiple launches in the compact car segment in this market to revive volumes which have faltered with slowing demand for Kwid.

Renault India operations MD Sumit Sawhney said with the Captur the company hopes to tap further into SUV segment.

“On an average, Kwid sells around 8,000 units every month but the mini segment has not been growing. You need to have offering in segments which are growing,” he said.

“We will launch one new vehicle every year … The sub-4-metre (compact) segment accounts for as much as 70% of the domestic market. We need to and will have more products in that category.”
