Rajasthan govt defers part salaries of cabinet, MLAs, officers; excludes cops, health workers

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has led his cabinet to pass a resolution to defer 75 per cent of his gross salary and of all ministers and MLAs in view of the economic burden on the state due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The cabinet decided that 60 per cent of the salaries of IAS officers and 50 per cent of state services will be deferred. Thirty per cent salaries of the pensioners will also be deferred.

However, Ashok Gehlot said the cops, class four employees, health workers, doctors and contract workers are exempted from such part deferment of salaries.

Ashok Gehlot said the deferment was decided after the state’s revenue in March fell by Rs 17,000 crore.

Yet, he said, his government has decided to revise the ex gratia to the deserving from Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,500.
