India sees 6,535 new coronavirus cases in 24 hours, case tally tops 1.45 lakh

The number of novel coronavirus cases in India climbed to 1,45,380 on Tuesday morning with the death toll at 4,167.

As many as 6,535 new cases of coronavirus were recorded in the last 24 hours, ending Tuesday morning, while the country saw 146 deaths in the same time period.

As per the updated figures of the Union Health Ministry on Tuesday, total number of cases in India stood at 1,45,380. These included 80,722 active cases and 60,490 who have either been cured or discharged.

On Monday, India had recorded the highest-ever spike in the number of cases for the fourth consecutive day with 6,977 new infections in 24 hours.

The death toll in India had climbed by 154, which took the number of casualties to 4,021. The recoveries stood at 57,721.

Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Gujarat remain the worst-affected states accounting for the maximum number of coronavirus cases in India.

According to the latest data, Maharashtra has so far recorded the maximum number of coronavirus cases in the country with around 53,000 cases of infections.

The tally in Tamil Nadu has risen to 17,082, while Gujarat has recorded 14,460 cases of the infection so far.

There are 14,073 cases of coronavirus in Delhi.
