KARNATAKA BJP GOVT CANCELS TIPU JAYANTI CELEBRATIONS

In Karnataka, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government has banned Tipu Sultan’s Jubilee celebrations.

The government in a cabinet meeting decided not to celebrate the Tipu Jayanti.

Former state chief minister and senior Congress leader Siddaramaiah has termed this decision of the government as wrong.

He has said that the decision to ban the Tipu Sultan’s birth anniversary taken by the Karnataka BJP government is wrong and this is a major mistake.

On Tuesday, Siddaramaiah tweeted and said, Tipu Sultan was known because he was from a minority community. Along with this, he was a great ruler who fought bravely against the British and started many development works.

Earlier, BJP’s MLA Bopaiah wrote a letter to Chief Minister Yeddyurappa and demanded the ban on celebrating Tipu Jayanti. When the Congress-JDS government was in Karnataka, they celebrated this festival with great fanfare.

The matter of Tipu Jayanti is already hot in the state and the BJP has often been opposing it. They celebrate the birth anniversary of 18th-century ruler Tipu Sultan every year on 10th November.

Last year during the Congress-JDS government, they celebrated his birth anniversary with great fanfare. Congress’s Siddaramaiah had also been involved in many places and also targeted the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Siddaramaiah said that the ritual of celebrating the birth of great men in the state has already started, we are also pursuing the same tradition.
