This conversation is happening in a time when China is under a heavy pressure of civil strife in Hong Kong. Just a few days before the meeting in Shanghai, Trump threatened to snatch its development status from China in the WTO.

China said that America’s ego and selfishness have caused this. The local media had said that the US is trying to put pressure before the business negotiation. Trump had said on Friday that he felt China’s negotiators would delay to agree and wait for the presidential election next year in the US. If he wins, then China will sign agreements. But the resumption of the trade talks between the two countries is being seen positively, even if they expect it to have very limited results.

After the talks failed in May, there was an agreement to resume talks between Trump and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping in the G-20 countries meeting in June.
