Hyderabad: Neighbours shower flower petals on doctors, nurses returning from work

Several doctors and nurses were given a grand welcome by their neighbours after they returned home from work as a mark of respect in Hyderabad.

While the Armed forces saluted coronavirus warriors through various military gestures on May 3, few residents in Hyderabad took the opportunity to also show their love for the doctors and nurses who have been on the frontline amid new coronavirus crisis.

A doctor couple in Hyderabad was showered with flower petals and cheered by their neighbours on Sunday.

Dr Mahaboob Khan, Superintendent of Chest Hospital in Hyderabad, was returning home from work on Sunday when he was given a warm welcome by his neighbours. His wife, Dr Shahena Khan, is working as a dermatologist at Gandhi Hospital in Hyderabad.

The couple has a 22-year-old daughter, Dr Rashika Khan, who is also a doctor and works at a coronavirus-dedicated hospital, and a 19-year-old son, Reham Khan.

After completion of her MBBS, Dr Rashika Khan has started working as a house surgeon at Fever Hospital, a Covid-19 dedicated hospital, in Chennai.
