Today is the last day of 2018 and yes, another year has come to an end.

As the world prepares to bid farewell to another year and celebrate New Year’s Eve tonight, Google is leading the way with the cutest doodle, showing two purple elephants tossing tye balloons and devouring popcorn,

the baby elephants perched on top of the Google homepage are seen playfully arranging for party decor. One of th elephant is seen blowing a balloon with its trunk and tossing it to the other one. The other elephant meanwhile is seen catching popcorn in his mouth from a bag. Above them the wall is decorated festoons and a clock which is moments away from striking midnight, thus signifying New Year 2018.

A Google Doodle is a special, temporary alteration of the logo on Google’s homepages that commemorates holidays, events, achievements, and people. The first Google Doodle honored the Burning Man festival in 1998, and was designed by Larry Page and Sergey Brin to notify users of their absence in case the servers crashed.

December 31 is celebrated across the world as New Year’s Eve. Fireworks,Fireworks, parties and celebrations of all kinds take place on the occasion as billions of people around the world wait with bated breath for the clock to strike midnight. More than 24 times in the world (since there are as many time zones spread across the globe) people count down to the moment of midnight to welcome the New Year’s Day.

Last year’s Google Doodle featured a family of birds – penguins and parrots on December 31.
