Coronavirus: Rajasthan govt allows limited use of taxi, autos within red zones

Rajasthan government on Monday allowed a few relaxations in the lockdown norms across the state. The state’s home department has issued a notification allowing the use of taxis and autos within the red zone, but with a few restrictions.

Taxis and autos, including Ola and Uber, will ply in outside containment areas in red zones, however, they can be used to travel to and from the railway station, airport and/or hospital.

At any point in time, a taxi cannot have more than two passengers apart from the driver, while auto can have only one passenger.

The drivers are required to wear masks and ensure proper sanitisation of the seats and touchpoints before and after each journey. They are also required to ensure proper social distancing of 6 feet at the point of waiting.

The state government has allowed public parks in red zones to open from 7 AM to 6.45 PM in red zones to allow people to undertake exercises like walking and jogging.

The Rajasthan government has also announced a punitive action against spitting in a public place after eating pan masala, gutkha and paan.

As per the central government’s latest figures, Rajasthan has reported over 7,000 cases of novel coronavirus and 163 deaths so far.
