In a tit-for-tat incident, a UP power department staff snapped electricity supply to a police station after he was fined for not wearing a helmet.
power department official in Uttar Pradesh’s Firozabad found out a unique way to take revenge on police officials who challaned him for not wearing a helmet. He disconnected power supply to the police station over impending electricity bills of over Rs 6 lakh.
The power official, identified as Srinivas, was fined Rs 500 on Tuesday evening when he was driving his motorbike without a helmet, reported the Times of India.
Srinivas told the reporter that while the police station haven’t paid their due bills running upto Rs 6 lakh, the policemen were trying to teach him traffic rules. He pleaded that he was out moving around in the local area for work and he could not wear a helmet. But the cops were relentless and this is when he decided to teach them a lesson.
The sub-divisional officer Dakshinanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Ltd (DVVNL) said that the station was sent several reminders asking them to clear the power dues but to no avail. He also said that the power department staff has not received their salaries for several months.
When Srinivas was challaned by the same cops of the Linepar police station, not only Srinivas, but other officials of the power department were also infuriated.
However, the SDO said that Srinivas had acted unilaterally in disconnecting supply to the police station and did not consult his bosses.
