With 338 fresh Covid-19 cases, Rajasthan reports highest single-day spike in infections

With 338 fresh cases of coronavirus, Rajasthan broke its previous day record and recorded the highest single-day spike in infections on day-1 of the fourth phase of lockdown.

With the 338 new cases, Rajasthan’s coronavirus tally has gone up to 5,845. However, the total number of active cases in the state currently stands at 2,365.

Additional Chief Secretary Rohit Kumar Singh urged the people of the state to not panic and attributed the rise in coronavirus cases on expected lines due to the arrival of migrants.

State Health Minister Raghu Sharma too has been saying that the number was to rise. Migrants, especially from Maharastra, are contributing to the increasing number of fresh positive cases across the state, he said.

Jaipur remains the worst-hit in Rajasthan with 1,640 Covid-19 cases, followed by 1,082 in Jodhpur, 414 in Udaipur, 331 in Kota, 257 in Ajmer, and 201 coronavirus cases in Pali.

Meanwhile, the Rajasthan government has formulated red, orange, and green zones according to urban areas and panchayat samitis, as many cases have been coming from rural areas because of the inflow of migrants lately. Hence, 139 out of 304 panchayat samitis of the state are in the red zone, 83 in orange, and 82 in green zone.

Thirteen of 33 districts in Rajasthan are entirely in the red zone. This includes Jodhpur, Udaipur, Kota, and Bhilwara. Fifteen district headquarters, including Jaipur, are in the red zone, and only six districts have come under the green zone category. Broadly speaking, 40 per cent of the entire Rajasthan is under the red zone, 54 per cent in orange get, while, just six per cent is under green zone at the moment.
