Pregnant woman loses baby as Mangalore apartment denies her entry upon arrival from Dubai

A pregnant woman who arrived in Mangalore on a Vande Bharat flight was allegedly denied entry into her apartment by the residents’ association. She later lost the baby after failing to get help from hospitals or her locality.

Once she landed in Mangalore, she was taken to a government facility where she stayed for 3 days and tested negative for coronavirus. She then tried to go back to her house where she was denied entry after the government allowed her to stay in home quarantine.

Apart from being denied entry into her apartment, the pregnant woman was also denied treatment or quarantine by several private hospitals in the city. She arrived in India on May 12 on a Vande Bharat repatriation flight from Dubai.

“She was trying to return to her family but the apartment association refused entry while private hospitals denied treatment. Days later, her unborn baby died in the womb,” said the woman’s aunt.

Mangalore corporation commissioner has now issued notice to the apartment association asking them to reply why the woman was not allowed to enter the residence. The commissioner has also said that no one can stop her from entering her own house.

The aunt has said, “It was a very helpless situation for us and we were forced to take her to the same hotel where she stayed on arrival and wait for the next coronavirus test.”

The pregnant woman also suffered from hypertension and failed to get any medical aid at the hotel.
