On Friday, PM Modi gave the clarion call of turning off lights and lightning diyas, candles, torch or mobile flashlights in solidarity with the nation against Covid-19 pandemic.

Meanwhile, Odisha BJD MP Sasmit Patra, State Agriculture Minister Arun Sahu and Minister Raghnandan Das lit candles and earthen lamps after turning off the lights at their respective houses.

Besides, state BJP leaders like Dharmendra Pradhan, Pratap Sarangi, Samir Mohanty and Golak Mohapatra also lit diyas at their houses.

Speaking to India Today Sasmit Patra said, “Us 130 crore Indians are together. Everyone lit candles and torches with a message that we will not let the darkness and dark night of corona overwhelm us. It is this light that will destroy the darkness. It is this light that will tear apart the darkness of corona and from it, will come out prosperity and well-being. This is a message of unity, brotherhood and one India, our India.”
