India has taken up the matter with foreign governments over their nationals attending the congregation of the Tablighi Jamaat in Delhi, and violating the nationwide lockdown in India.

Sources said, Indian ambassadors have taken up the matter with the respective governments of visa violations committed by their nationals who attended the Tablighi Jamaat congregation.

The source added that the MHA has also taken required action in this matter. If there have been violations of the laws of the land, appropriate action will be taken by relevant authorities.

The MEA will extend all cooperation and offer any assistance required by the agencies, the source added. About 2,100 foreigners had visited India for Tablighi Jamaat activities since January 1 this year, and while some might have left the country, over 800 foreign nationals spread across various parts of India for religious activities.
