The man has been identified as Mahesh. His body was found half buried and crushed in the field.
Poclain machines are used to excavate and move earth.
Mahesh was earlier called by four men to whom he had given a contract to work in the field where he was found dead.
Residents of the village have blocked the roads in the area and have called for action against the accused.
Police have rushed to the spot to investigate the case and bring the situation under control.
