International flight carrying 149 stranded migrants lands in Jaipur from London

Rajasthan on Friday welcomed 149 migrants, who arrived at the Jaipur Airport from London in the first international flight that has landed in the state since the coronavirus lockdown began in March.

“149 migrant Rajasthanis, including one infant, arrived at the Jaipur Airport from London on Friday. They came in the first international flight that has arrived at the Jaipur Airport since the Lockdown began.”, Jaideep S Balhara, Airport Director, Jaipur Airport, mentioned.

The 149 migrant Rajasthanis, who arrived in Jaipur from London on Friday, will have to stay in hotels as part of the 14-day mandatory quarantine period. Officials ensured that all passengers had Aarogya Setu and the Rajcovid app on their phones.

A government official said that thermal scanning of the passengers took place in batches of 20. Medical check-ups were done while following social distancing norms. After luggage collection, customs clearance, and completion of other necessary formalities, the passengers were taken to hotels via buses.

All the passengers will have to undergo a coronavirus test on the completion of their 14-day quarantine period and will be allowed to go home only if the test result comes out negative.
