How Sushma Swaraj realised her 1996 dream of abolishing Article 370 in her last tweet

Sushma Swaraj fought for the abolishment of Article 370 in her 1996 speech in Lok Sabha. She finally realised this dream hours before her untimely death on August 6.

Days after the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government collapsed after a 16-day run in 1996, a young Sushma Swaraj gave a fiery speech in Lok Sabha and made it clear that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was firm in its demand of abolishing Article 370.

After 23 years, hours before her death, Sushma Swaraj finally realised her dream and thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi in her last tweet.In her famous speech of 1996, Sushma Swaraj slams the coalition government for toppling Vajpayee’s BJP that was the single largest party in the House. Swaraj then goes on to add that the BJP is often branded as “communal” and that is alright, because they want the abolishment of Article 370.
