Highest one-day spike of 323 new Covid-19 cases push Uttar Pradesh’s tally near 5,000-mark

Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday reported 323 new cases of coronavirus, its highest ever single-day spike in infections. With this, the state’s tally mounted to 4,926. The state now has 1,885 active cases of Covid-19.

As many as 135 coronavirus patients were discharged from hospitals after recovery on Tuesday, taking the total number of cured cases in the state to 2,918.

Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh has reported 123 coronavirus-related deaths so far.

Out of the total 4,926 coronavirus cases in the state, 1,304 are linked to the Tablighi Jamaat event.

Agra, with 827 coronavirus cases, has been the worst-hit in the state, followed by Meerut (331 cases), Kanpur (317 cases), Lucknow (306 cases), and Noida (300 cases), according to the latest data provided by the health department of the state government.
