Retired Bombay High Court Judge Abhay Thipsay, who appeared as a defence witness in the Nirav Modi case, alleged that he is being targeted by the ruling BJP government because of his bold and fearless judgements.
During a press conference, Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad on Thursday alleged that Abhay Thipsay, the former high court judge and also a Congress leader, had appeared as a defence witness in the Nirav Modi case in a bid to save the latter who is wanted back in India in an 11,000 crore bank fraud case.
Reacting to Ravi Shankar Prasad’s allegations, Thipsay, in an exclusive telephone interview to India Today, said it is “absolutely false” and that the Union minister made an “irresponsible statement”.
“If my past judgements hurt you and you have grudges against me, and you take any opportunity to talk any non-sense, then what can be done?” Thipsay asked.
“This is absolutely false. It is an irresponsible statement. I will see what has to be done about that. I am trying to get a record of it and consult someone to figure out the next course of action,” Thipsay said.
