This will be Rajnath Singh’s first visit to Ladakh after the government took the decision to bifurcate J&K and Ladakh into separate Union Territories.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will visit Ladakh on August 29 and it will be his first visit after the government scrapped Article 370. Singh will be visiting Ladakh to review the situation in the region.
During the visit, Rajnath Singh will interact with the locals and other stakeholders regarding the decision to turn the area into a Union Territory and how it is going to help them, Defence officials said.
The Minister is also expected to hold interactions with the defence and military officials there regarding the situation on the borders with both China and Pakistan there.
The 14 Corps in Leh manages both the borders with Pakistan along the Kargil-Drass-Siachen sector while on the other side it manages the Eastern Ladakh boundary with China.
