Assam government has imposed a curfew from 6 pm to 6 am in the state due to third phase of Covid-19 lockdown that will commence from Monday, May 4.
The curfew will commence from Monday morning. However, the state government has given some relaxations in green zones, as per directive by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Sunday.
Out of 33 districts of the state, 29 districts have been declared as green zone and four districts as orange zone, Biswa said.
“The movement of individuals is strictly prohibited between 6 pm and 6 am throughout the state across all zones, except for emergency services, namely medical services, police, fire services and emergency response for restoring telecom and electricity. Private medical clinics and OPDs, including veterinary OPDs, shall be allowed to open,” the health minister said.
All standalone shops will be allowed to operate till 5 pm, Biswa said.
“All standalone shops will be allowed to operate till 5 pm. Pharmacies, grocery stores, and book shops will remain open. Market complexes and shopping malls shall remain closed,” Biswa further said.
On state transportation services, Biswa said: “Auto-rickshaws, cycle-rickshaws, and taxis will operate with one driver and two passengers to ensure social distancing norms. In case of private four-wheeler vehicles, a driver and two others are allowed. For two-wheeler vehicles, pillion riding is allowed either with One female or one child up to the age of 12 years.”
“City buses, intra-district and inter-district buses will operate with 50 per cent capacity. Also, only 50 per cent of the total number of buses will be allowed to operate under the authority of Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC). All the vehicles which are allowed to ply are not permitted to stop in the red and orange Zones, however, they will stop only to take passes,” Assam health minister added.
For construction work in urban areas, 50 per cent of the workforce will be allowed, Biswa said.
All the tea shops, restaurants, ice-cream parlours, cooked food outlets are allowed to operate on take-away or home delivery services, Biswa said.
