BJP MLA Pranav Singh Champion expelled for 6 years after his drunken gun dance

Uttarakhand BJP MLA Pranav Singh Champion has been expelled from the party for 6 years after a video of him dancing and brandishing guns.

JP has expelled its Uttarakhand MLA Pranav Singh Champion from the party for six years after a video of him dancing with firearms in hand. As the video went viral, BJP had to battle a lot of embarrassment while Champion continued to defend his behaviour and say when you are drunk, such things happen.

BJP media head and Rajya Sabha member Anil Baluni told reporters that the party has taken cognizance of his serial public misconduct and expelled him for six years.

The MLA was issued a show cause notice by the state leaders after the video appeared.

Champion was already suspended from the party for earlier instances of alleged misdemeanour.

Uttarakhand BJP in-charge Shyam Jaju had earlier recommended Pranav Singh Champion’s expulsion from the party even before the suspended Khanpur MLA could respond to a notice seeking an explanation on the viral video in which he was seen dancing with guns in his hands.

Speaking to AajTak, Champion had earlier said, “I am sorry for using foul language and abusing but you should also understand that such things happen when you are drunk.”

Champion had also said that the video that went viral is doctored and it is not a crime to dance.

“This is a conspiracy. They are licensed weapons and not loaded. I am not pointing them at anyone or threatening anyone. What’s the crime? Is drinking alcohol and keeping licensed guns a crime,” he had asked after the video went viral.
