assam Police on Sunday detained nine Tablighi Jamaat attendees from the Kharupetia area in the state’s Darrang district.
According to police, the nine, hailing from Maharashtra, had attended the Nizamuddin gathering and were allegedly hiding in the area since the last few days.
The nine, who were detained, have been identified as: Kafil Ali, Danish Ali, Jayed Ali, Ajmal, Samser, Saniullah, Habibur Akram, Shoyeb Ali, and Mubasir. The Assam Police has sent the Jamaat attendees to quarantine centre at Mangaldoi Civil Hospital.
A total of 26 positive cases of Covid-19 have been detected in Assam and so far, 25 out of these are linked with the Nizamuddin Markaz gathering.
