As flights resume, passengers fail to maintain physical distance at Jaipur airport

Domestic flights on Monday resumed operations in India after a closure that lasted for almost two months.

Physical distancing norms went for a toss at the Jaipur International airport where more and more passengers were seen feigning an utter disregard for the safety precautions advised by the various government bodies and airlines.

Specific markings were made on the floor of the airport to ensure that passengers maintain the required physical distance. But several passengers decided to stand in close proximity to each other while ignoring the yellow markings and circles demarcated by the airport authorities outside the departure area.

Passengers planning to travel on the domestic circuit were required to arrive three hours in advance. Apart from that, they were required to undergo medical screening and thereafter, get their baggage sanitized. The use of face masks was also made mandatory for all passengers.

After the medical screening and sanitisation of luggage at the Jaipur airport, CISF personnel inspected the boarding passes and ID cards of all passengers before they were allowed to move inside the departure lounge.

“As far as airports are concerned, we have placed distance markings everywhere in the airport so that people should not gather together. Apart from it, we have arranged the sanitization programme for all places, all around,” Director of the Jaipur airport, Jaideep S Balhara said. He further added, “You can get sanitizers, automatic sanitizers and people are manually sanitizing the trolleys and the touching points, from time to time, after each flight.”

In his message to passengers, Balhara said, “You need to wear masks while entering the airport and apart from it, can carry hand sanitizer and the airlines will also provide a kit and PPE kits at the time of boarding,” Jaideep S Balhara said.
