The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), formed after the recent controversy over the auction of 23 properties in Tamil Nadu, has decided that it will not dispose or auction any immovable properties donated by devotees to the hill shrine of Lord Venkateswara located at Tirumala hills in Tirupati.
After five-hour-long video conference of TTD Board of Trustees chairman YV Subba Reddy announced that the board has also decided to set up a committee comprising of officials, intellectuals, heads of Hindu religious institutions and devotees soon to study on how to utilise such unviable and encroached properties and take appropriate action without hurting the sentiments of the devotees.
The TTD chairman said that the decision has been taken after the Andhra Pradesh government issued an order banning the sale of such assets.
βThe current TTD board has therefore rescinded its decision on the immovable properties, though they were processed by the previous Board of TTD,β said Reddy.
Similarly, the board also decided to write to the state government requesting an investigation committee, either vigilance commission or any other body, on the entire episode to bring out actual facts.
On when the hill shrine will be open for visitors, the board chairman said it is fully geared to commence the Srivari Darshan, as soon as they get the instructions from the government after the lockdown ends.
“Today we have even inspected the VQC compartments and temple area to figure how to take forward darshan arrangements for pilgrims while maintaining social distancing. Once the lockdown ends and we get the green signal from the government, we will open up darshan for pilgrims,β said YV Subba Reddy.
