The novel coronavirus positive cases surge in Assam continues unabated as a total of 488 fresh cases were detected in the state in the past four days. On Thursday, Assam had registered 97 new coronavirus cases, taking the state tally to 880.
The coronavirus positive cases in Assam have doubled in just four days.
The first coronavirus case was detected in the state on March 31, while the 100th positive case for Covid-19 was detected in the state on May 17.
It took only 48 days for Assam to reach 100 coronavirus cases from the day the first case was detected in the state.
According to the Assam government data, the 200th case was detected on May 21 and 400th positive case was found in the state on May 25.
In the biggest single-day spike in the state so far, Assam had registered 156 coronavirus positive on May 25.
On May 26, Assam had registered 134 new cases, while 101 positive cases were detected on May 27 and 97 on May 28.
Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the state has so far reported 880 positive cases for coronavirus and out of them, 103 patients have been discharged from the hospitals.
He tweeted, “24 new cases of Covid-19. 11 Goalpara, 3 Nalbari, 3 Tinsukia, 2 Dibrugarh, 1 each from Kamrup, Nagaon, Karbi Anglong & Dhubri. 1 to ascertain. Total cases 880, Recovered 103, Active cases 770, Deaths 04.”
