As tense standoff between Indian and Chinese troops in the disputed areas of Pangong Tso and Galwan Valley along the LAC in Ladakh continues, BJP General Secretary Ram Madhav has exuded confidence that the issue will be resolved through diplomatic channels.
In an exclusive interview to India Today TV, BJP leader Ram Madhav said, “We see a bad patch right now but we are confident that it will be resolved through diplomacy.”
Ram Madhav added, “When such stand-offs happen, we engage in proactive diplomacy but we will have strong ground posturing as well. This legitimate posturing will remain while we try to resolve issues diplomatically.”
On the present situation along the LAC, the BJP leader said, “We did have flashpoints, at three places in Ladakh and one in north Sikkim, but the situation is being taken care of. Situation is normal and hope that is how it remains.”
Ram Madhav said, “Both sides are mature. And don’t want escalation.”
As he rejected reports that Indian patrol teams were detained by Chinese troops in eastern Ladakh, BJP’s Ram Madhav said only official sources should be trusted in the matter. “We always must depend on official sources only. There were reports about things which are not true,” Ram Madhav said.
On satellite images of build-up on the Chinese side, Ram Madhav said, “The satellite images suggest build-up but remember we are undertaking regular army construction activities. Our presence is there in terms of that. These issues are being taken care of by the military establishment.”
