A 20-year-old, who sent threat messages to the social media helpdesk of the Uttar Pradesh Police, demanding that a man arrested for threatening Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath be released, has also been placed in police custody by Maharashtra ATS.
He has been identified as Sayyed Wahab, a resident of Darusalaam colony in Nashik’s Madina Chowk.
On Saturday, Maharashtra ATS had arrested 25-year-old Kamran Khan from Mumbai for threatening to kill Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath using a bomb. Kamran had made the threat in a call to the UP Police HQ in Lucknow on May 22. A case was registered against him at the Gomti Nagar police station and he was subsequently arrested. Police presented Kamran before a court on Sunday which granted them transit remand. He was then handed over to the UP STF.
A day after Kamran’s arrest, Sayyed started sending messages to the UP Police on social media, threatening them of dire consequences if Kamran is not released. The information about the 20-year-old was passed on to Maharashtra ATS by UP STF and he was arrested on Sunday from Nashik. Investigators are looking for a possible link between Kamran and Sayyed.
