Assam on Tuesday witnessed its highest single-day spike in Covid-19 infections with 39 fresh cases. The state’s total count has not mounted to 154. The state now has 107 active positive cases of Covid-19.
Among the 39 new cases is Assam’s youngest Covid-19 patient, a two-year-old boy hailing from the Hojai district. His father has also tested positive for the novel virus. Both had returned to the Assam recently from Mumbai.
Of the fresh cases reported on Tuesday, 17 were reported from Guwahati, while seven were from Kamrup district. Two coronavirus cases each have been reported from Jorhat, Golaghat, Nagaon, Hojai, Biswanath, Nalbari, Karimganj, and one from Kokrajhar district.
Wife and daughter of a cancer patient, who died at Guwahati Medical College Hospital (GMCH) on Monday due to Covid-19, also tested positive for the virus.
On Monday, the state had registered 15 positive cases for Covid-19.
