Noida says no to travel from Delhi after UP govt allows movement in new lockdown rules

Hours after the Uttar Pradesh government allowed traffic movement from Delhi to Noida and Ghaziabad, the Noida administration on Monday said the Delhi-Noida border will remain sealed and no traffic movement, except for emergencies, will be allowed.

In an order on Tuesday night, the Gautam Buddh Nagar administration said, “Status quo shall be maintained between Delhi Noida Border for now. We have sought instructions from state govt. as regards to implementation of Point 3(1) and 7(12) of GO of Home dept vide No.924 dated 18/5/2020”.

Following the extension of the lockdown and a new set of guidelines being issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), the Uttar Pradesh government’s Home Department issued an order detailing guidelines for the lockdown extension.

The UP government in its guideline had said that movement from Delhi to Noida or Ghaziabad will be allowed except if the person is travelling from a containment zone.

However later, the Gautam Buddh Nagar administration said the relaxation will not be implemented immediately as they will be seeking further instructions from the state government.

Meanwhile, seven people were arrested in Noida for flouting the lockdown restrictions. Section 144 of CrPC has been imposed in Noida, violating which will invite criminal procedure against the persons.
