Migrant worker on way to Odisha collapses due to scorching heat, dies

A migrant worker from Odisha died after he collapsed near Laxmannath Gate in the Jaleswar area of Balasore district on Friday. The migrant worker was on his way to his native place in Odisha when he collapsed and died due to scorching summer heat.

The deceased, identified as 56-year-old Dhubei Charan Mohanty is a resident of Tikarpada village in Puri district, Odisha.

Dhubei was rushed to a community health centre in Jaleswar after he collapsed on the road where he was declared brought dead by the doctors.

Dhubei was working with a private company in Kolkata, West Bengal and was one of the thousands returning to their native places after being left stranded in the city following the Centre’s announcement of nationwide lockdown to stop the spread of coronavirus.

Dhubei had exhausted all his savings and was running of money when he decided to walk home in Odisha.
