Tamil Nadu man’s app-controlled robot can run errands for you, help frontline Covid warriors

An innovator for Tamil Nadu came up with a brilliant idea for better implementation of social distancing in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak.

Karthik Velayutham from Coimbatore has built a little robot to shop for him instead of him standing in long queues without any social distancing. “This is an awareness campaign to make people understand the need for social distancing in this pandemic time,” Said Karthik.

He said his machine can be operated from anywhere in the world. “By using this Robo you can maintain social distancing. It can be used in hospitals where doctors and nurses can use this to dispatch the medicines without personally interacting with the patient.”

“The Robo can be used from anywhere in the world using the Internet. All you need to do is enter the login details,” added Karthik.

The Robo is currently connected using an android phone. There are video and call facilities and the owner can use these to interact and operate it with other people. The Robo ay present can carry up to 30kg of weight and it has a backup power of six to seven hours.

Karthik can instruct via the video facility on the robot as to what he wants and based on that the shopkeepers can provide him the essentials and the payment is done online immediately.

When he used it first, people were surprised to see a small four-wheeler machine standing in the queue along with them.

Tamil Nadu government was surprised by the serpentine queues and rush at TASMAC shops when it was reopened on May 7. The computer engineer built this machine in two days and was made at a cost of Rs 3000.
