One passenger died and at least 20 were injured after a truck carrying over 50 migrant workers from Hyderabad to Uttar Pradesh’s Gorakhpur met with an accident on National Highway-44 near Nirmal in Telangana on Saturday.
The accident took place around 3:30 am on the Nagpur highway near Telangana-Maharashtra border.
At least 20 people have been injured in the accident, out of whom, nine have been severally injured.
The truck, which was carrying 70-75 migrant workers, rolled off the road after the driver reportedly dozed off while driving.
On being informed of the accident, Telangana minister IK Reddy and senior police officers rushed to the spot and sent two seriously injured to the Osmania Hospital in Hyderabad for better treatment, while, others shifted to a local hospital.
The minister assured arrangements of travel and food for the rest of the workers who have not suffered any injuries and were willing to head to their native state.
