Four people test positive for Coronavirus in Assam, total count reaches 5

Four more people from Assam on Wednesday tested positive for Covid-19 and with this total number of Covid-19 cases have been increased to five in the state so far.

Assam Health Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday said, “Four new positive cases for Covid-19 have been detected at Guwahati Medical College Hospital (GMCH).”

The Assam minister further said that these people had visited the Nizamuddin area in Delhi. He further said that a few more people have been found positive in the screening tests.

According to the reports, among the new four cases, one youth is 19-year-old and hails from Nalbari district and other three persons are from the Jagiroad area in the Morigaon district.

Earlier, a 52-year-old man from Karimganj district was found positive for Covid-19 at Silchar Medical College Hospital on Tuesday.

The Assam minister further said, “the centre gave the state government a list of 456 people who visited the Nizamuddin Dargah area and 91 people had informed the government about their presence in the state by calling 104 helpline number and a ground survey was also done.”

Out of 547 people, 136 asymptomatic persons also came under radar and in-home isolation. 347 people have returned to Assam from Delhi and the state government has identified 230 out of them last night. We have collected 196 samples and sent it for testing in five testing laboratories in the state, the minister said. Earlier, a 23-year-old girl of Manipur and a 50-year-old man of Mizoram tested positive for Covid-19.
