Coronavirus: Vodka company to make 24 tons of hand sanitisers

hand sanitisers are one of the most essential items that come in handy amid the novel coronavirus outbreak. Owing to their heavy demand, sanitisers have run out of stock in many cities across the globe. In fact, the shortage is such that people are making their own hand sanitisers at home.

However, during this situation, a vodka brand has decided to make 24 tons of hand sanitiser in the upcoming weeks.

The company made an announcement on Sunday and said, “Currently, we are testing our formula, procuring necessary components of supplies and packaging, and preparing for production as we wait for the additional required ingredients to be delivered to the distillery. We have the ingredients and equipment on order to make an initial 24 tons of hand sanitizer over the next several weeks, and plan to make more from there as needed.”

The company announced that it will give away the sanitisers for free to those in need. “While we don’t have all of the details quite yet, we do know we will be giving it away for free to our community and those most in need,” the statement further read.

The company also advised people against using their product (vodka) as a sanitiser.

The novel coronavirus outbreak has spread to over 170 countries and claimed more than 16,000 lives. In India, 508 cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed as of March 24.
