2019 Renault Kwid Facelift Spied Yet Again; Looks Bold!

The updated hatchback is likely to resemble the recently unveiled all-electric hatchback, the Renault City KZ-E

The 2019 Renault Kwid facelift has been spotted testing again and by the looks of it, it borrows a lot of elements from its electric sibling, the City KZ-E, which was unveiled at the 2019 Auto Shanghai. The front fascia gets updates in the form of a new twin slat grille, LED daytime running lamps (DRLs) and new dual-barrel headlamps on the bumper. The side profile and the rear are expected to remain relatively unchanged, save for a new set of tail lamps.The interiors of the facelift are expected to remain the same. The updated Kwid is expected to carry over features such as the digital instrument cluster, touchscreen infotainment with navigation, and a rear parking camera. Safety features like a driver’s side airbag, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors and seatbelt reminders for the front occupants will also be offered just like the current car.On the engine front, the Kwid facelift is likely to retain the same set of petrol engines as the current car. The 0.8-litre engine produces 54PS of power and 72Nm of torque whereas the bigger 1.0-litre engine produces 68PS of power and 91Nm of torque. Both engines come paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox whereas the latter gets an option of a 5-speed AMT as well. Expect them to be updated to meet BS6 norms by the time the Kwid facelift hits the roads.Likely to go on sale by Diwali this year, this will be the Kwid’s first major update since its launch in 2015. The 2019 Kwid is expected to be priced at a slight premium over the current car, which retails from Rs 2.72 lakh to Rs 4.76 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). When launched, it will continue to rival the Maruti Suzuki Alto and the Datsun redi-GO.
